The DoD will spend nearly $53 billion on health care next year, a three-fold increase since 2001, CNN Money reports. The chart below shows the huge increase in costs. Part of the increased costs are most likely attributable to the expansion of TRICARE to reservists and their family members. But something else is going on. Perhaps fraud like that committed by Major (Dr.) Davis and Boston Scientific is causing these increased costs. But at this rate, the dramatic increase in health care costs is becoming a national security issue.
